Welcome,
I'm so glad you're here.
I'm a Registered Counselling Therapist (NSCCT) and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCPA), dedicated to supporting individuals across the lifespan — with a special passion for working with children and adolescents.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an Early Childhood Educator, where I saw firsthand the importance of helping young people build emotional resilience. That experience sparked a desire to support children and youth in deeper, more individualized ways.
My approach is rooted in attachment theory, and I believe that healing often begins through connecting with ourselves and with others. I use a trauma-informed lens to support children, teens, and adults navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma.
In our work together, my first goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you (or your child) feel truly seen and heard. I bring warmth, calm, and flexibility to each session, and I adapt my approach based on your needs, pace, and goals.
For younger clients I incorporate the therapeutic powers of play. Play is a child's language, and it can be a powerful tool for expression, processing, and connection. I often use games, storytelling, and creative arts to make therapy feel engaging and meaningful.
I take an integrative approach, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Brainspotting, and Play Therapy.
When I'm not in my counselling office, you can likely find me listening to Taylor Swift, hiking our beautiful province, reading a good book, or lounging on the beach.
Whether you're seeking support for yourself or a young person in your life, I'm here to walk alongside you in the journey.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Emily
