Welcome! My name is Allyson (She/Her) and I am a registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate)with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and I believe that therapy should be a space where you can show up as your whole self- without having to perform, explain, or have everything figured out first. Life transitions can bring up emotions, questions, and parts of ourselves that we may not have expected. Whether you’re navigating a change in identity, relationships, parenthood, grief, family-building, self-worth, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, you don’t have to navigate it alone. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I see you as the expert in your own life, and my role is not to tell you who you should be or what you should do, but to walk alongside you with curiosity as you explore what matters to you and what you need. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, respected, understood, and genuinely seen.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), person-centered therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment-based approaches, narrative therapy, and somatic practices. I tailor our work to your individual needs, recognizing that there is no single approach that works for everyone.
I’m passionate about supporting individuals through identity exploration, relationships and attachment, self-esteem, emotional regulation, grief and loss, and life transitions. I also have an interest in perinatal and family-building experiences, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and pregnancy or infant loss. I provide therapy to individuals 16 and up, couples, as well as families.
My practice is 2SLGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-affirming, and I approach therapy through a culturally humble, anti-oppressive, and intersectional lens. I am also certified to write WPATH letters of readiness for gender-affirming care.
I believe therapy can be a space to slow down, become curious about your experiences, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and what you need.
